The Ugly Duckling at SCEP in Kettering, Ohio.  Directed by Stacey Lane.  (2015)

Synopsis:

Tanya, with romance novel in hand, is on a mission to relax at her apartment swimming pool. However, a group of rowdy young men have taken over her usually peaceful territory. Tanya's poor self-esteem prevents her from enjoying herself, as she imagines what the guys must be thinking about her body. She makes sure to judge them equally as harshly. When a father with his toddlers shows up, Tanya momentarily feels more confident, until a hot young mom in a bikini joins them. Double standards abound in this comedic female monologue.

Words that Rhyme with Orange was created through a partnership with Zoot Theatre Company and Cityfolk.  Second, seventh, and eight graders at Cleveland School participated in workshops lead by Stacey Lane.  The students came up with basic plot and characters and Lane wrote this play based on their ideas.
